Letters from Phillips Brooks [manuscript], 1878-1886.

In a letter (1878 September 20) to Miss Phelps (possibly Elizabeth Stuart Phelps Ward), Brooks comments on an upcoming visit to her. In a letter (1886 November 18) to Miss Hall, Brooks gives Hall permission to make free use of the verses to his hymn "O little town of Bethlehem," and notes that he is privileged to be in the company of Sears and Lowell. In a letter (1886 December 25) to Miss Hyde, Brooks notes that his Chautauqua address has gone to press and declines an invitation from her due to pressing work obligations.
